Following received from his Majesty's Minister
begins:-
Addressed to Peking No.43, repeated to Foreign
Office No.12.
Foreign Office telegram No.54 to Peking.
Before receipt of your telegram I had discussed
question with Governor and result was embodied in his
telegram to Colonial Office of February 20th. I agree
with recommendations in that telegram and do not
think there is anything to add. Any recognition
of Lin's re-instatement would only postpone decision
for a few months and we can hardly now recognise any
new appointment from Peking.
